As of today, James Gunn
His tweet states: “I am tremendously grateful to every person out there who has supported me over the past few months. I am always learning and will continue to work at being the best human being I can be. I deeply appreciate Disney’s decision and I am excited to continue making films that investigate the ties of love that bind us all. I have been, and continue to be incredibly humbled by your love and support. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Love to you all.”
For those that don’t know, Gunn was recently let go from the project as director after some former tweets reemerged from years ago in which Gunn used some relatively dark humor to engage in shock humor. After these message reappeared, Disney fired him as director. Though, Gunn’s script was still planned to be used in either case.
Hopefully this can be a sign that we as a community can move forward, but only time will tell.
